My name is Sanmei Chen. I am from Canton, China. I speak Cantonese. I am married. My husband is a chef. He works in a restaurant. We have a daughter. She goes to school.

I live in Brooklyn, New York City. We live in a house. My neighbors are from China or Italy. They are nice and friendly. My neighborhood is quiet and safe.

Transportation is convenient for me. The bus stop is right behind my building. The subway station is only three blocks from my building.

I had a hard time when I first came to America. I worked in a supermarket and then in a restaurant. But I hated these jobs since I had to work very long time every day and the boss wanted his employees to work as fast as machines from morning till night. These jobs were not for human beings, I thought.

Right now, I don’t have a job. I am a housewife. Here is what I do Monday through Thursday:

I go to school in the morning. After school I get home, cook and have lunch, clean the house, and walk my dog. Then I go out to do some grocery shopping. It is the same routine every day.

My favorite hobby is listening to music and watching TV. My favorite food is sweet and sour fish. My favorite TV program is comedy.
